Missing jumps? Separate aim errors from early and late taps

Diagnose overshoots, undershoots and aim-tap coordination, then choose a focused practice exercise.

01

Start with three misses, not your worst miss

Choose three recent attempts on one difficulty with identical mods and rate. Review a few objects before each miss at reduced playback speed. Record the object time, cursor position at the input and whether the cursor entered the target before or after that input. A miss alone cannot tell you whether spacing, timing or reading caused the error. If the replay cannot resolve the input clearly, mark it uncertain rather than prescribing an aim fix.

02

Find the mistake you actually repeat

If the cursor is short of the target at the tap and reaches it afterwards, compare early tapping with incomplete movement. If it travels beyond the target, inspect whether the tap happened during the crossing or after leaving. If the cursor reaches the target but departs before the tap, work on coordination rather than simply moving faster. These are observations about cursor and input order; they do not establish what your eyes or hands intended.

03

Practice: controlled arrivals

Suggested drill: choose a short jump section whose rhythm you can already tap comfortably. Play three attempts, concentrating on arriving at each target in time for the tap rather than rushing toward the next object. Reduce rate or spacing if nearly every jump breaks down, but change only one demand. Review the same misses afterwards. Count cursor-outside-at-input events as well as misses: a lucky pass is not the same as repeatable control.

04

Check transfer before increasing difficulty

Replay the original section at its original settings, then try a second map with comparable spacing and rhythm. Compare several attempts rather than only the best one. If the practised section improves but the second map does not, keep the drill but add more pattern variety. If inputs remain early despite more controlled arrivals, switch your next practice focus to timing instead of continuing to increase spacing.

05

Watch and apply

Tonehh's aim guide is an optional companion video. After watching, choose one idea to test against your own replay evidence. The exercises here are AimMod practice suggestions, not a transcript of the video or a guarantee that one aiming style works for everyone.
